Targa 2011 Round One - Targa Bambina

25-01-2011

11-13 March will see Glenn Inkster and the Team TransNet Extreme Evo 6 hit the roads again for the first round of the 2011 Targa series – the Targa Bambina. This will be the first of three Targa events that Inky and co-driver Spencer Winn will contend. The March event will see the team racing on approximately 220km of closed road special stages from Drury in South Auckland, to an overnight stop in Whitianga which will coincide with the annual Whitianga Festival of Speed. The full field of cars will then make their way through more special stages to the Onewhero Golf Club in Pukawa (40mins south of Auckland) for the finish and prize giving on the Sunday night.

2010 Dunlop Targa champ, Tony Quinn from Australia has already entered, as has pace setter Clark Proctor, who has installed even more powerful engine in his GTR. Spencer and Inky are also making changes for more speed in the EVO 6.5, getting bigger wheels, tires and of course more speed makes a need for bigger brakes! They’re also reducing the weight of car to help with speed. This event will provide some amazing spectator spots, with some fantastic cars and drivers showcasing what they’re capable of. Anyone interested in a great day watching should have a look on the targa website for event details www.targa.co.nz.

With the changes to the car Inky and Spencer are going to push it even further than they did at the 2010 Dunlop Targa where they finished 2nd. With 5 days racing together and some stage wins under their belt they’re ready to give it everything at Targa Bambina 2011.
