Inkster Ready for Rally NZ
05-05-2011

Howick's Glenn Inkster is looking forward to the second round of the New Zealand Rally Championship, Rally New Zealand, which runs this coming weekend.
Inkster, along with long-time co-driver Glenn Goldring, currently sit in a strong fifth place in the NZRC, only bettered by four former or current national champions, after an up and down opening round at Rally Otago four weeks ago.
Last year, when many of the roads used in this edition of Rally NZ were used as part of New Zealand's world championship round, the pair were highly competitive including taking their first NZRC stage win in a group N car on the Hampton Downs super special stage that will be run three times over the course of this two-day rally.
With the Team TransNet Extreme Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 increasing in pace over the off-season and a positive second day at the opening round in Otago, the teams hopes are high for another top five finish in the highly competitive series.
With the ceremonial start being held in Manukau City and the special stages in the Franklin and Northern Waikato regions, Inkster is excited to have the opportunity to perform in front of many of his supporters close to home.
Rally New Zealand gets underway with a ceremonial start on Friday 6 May starting at 6pm with the first car crossing the start ramp at 7.30pm. The following day, crews will tackle eight special stages, including two passes of the Hampton Downs super special stage which circulates around the service park. The following day a further five special stages will run before a final run around the Hampton Downs super special and the ceremonial finish.
