C-LOK connectors are composed of a "C" and a wedge component, both made of copper alloy, in a configuration that exerts a spring pressure. They are recommended for connecting solid or stranded copper conductors in grounding applications including direct burial.
The disadvantages of screw=type connectors, which must be periodically readjusted and re-tightened, and the drawbacks of compression-type connectors, which are difficult to select and install, are overcome by the wedge-pressure design of C-LOK connectors. Since the applied connector pressure is controlled, the conductor is not rendered useless when the connector is removed.
C-LOK connectors can be rapidly and safely installed without special tools (parallel jaw pliers) and can be verified visually. The connectors are manufactured with serrations and can have factory installed inhibitor compound which can assist in the prevention of oxide forming in the contact area.
