Midel Ester Transformer Oil

MIDEL ester transformer fluids are used by the world’s leading utilities, transformer manufacturers and commercial/industrial users. MIDEL understand that when it comes to asset protection and environmental safety, there can be no compromises – that’s why the MIDEL range of natural and synthetic ester transformer fluids are the first and only choice for unrivaled transformer risk mitigation.

MIDEL - Safety Inside
Transformers are often cited as one of the top five high-risk assets. Accordingly, MIDEL is meeting the needs of transformer OEMs, Utilities and DNOs in ever more demanding applications. Our fluids enable assets to work harder (at 20% overload), for much longer. MIDEL fluids provide unrivaled risk mitigation through their high fire points and, compared to mineral oil, superior moisture tolerance. In addition, our esters are readily biodegradable and non-toxic, presenting no threat to the environment. The US Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation states: “Ester fluids have been determined to be non-toxic and biodegradable.”

Range Includes
  • MIDEL eN 1215 is a versatile, fire-safe ester transformer fluid made from renewable soybean crops. Environmentally safer than mineral oil, MIDEL eN 1215 has a pour point of -18°C and delivers excellent performance in non-free breathing transformers in temperate climates. Reliable performance from an ester fluid with sound sustainability credentials.
  • MIDEL eN 1204 is a superior natural ester transformer fluid, made from renewable rapeseed/canola oil. It delivers very effective cold weather performance (-31°C pour point) and has better oxidation characteristics than soya-based natural ester fluid. The right solution for non free-breathing transformers in cooler climates.
  • MIDEL 7131 is the world’s leading biodegradable synthetic transformer fluid. Proven to 433kV and with a pour point of -56°C, this is a robust fluid for mainstream and the most demanding environments – including extremes of heat or cold, sub-sea, underground, offshore wind and traction applications – for both sealed and free-breathing units.
Selecting the right transformer fluid will depend on the individual application and location. MIDEL's experience shows that one-size-fits-all is a concept that doesn’t deliver the best results. The MIDEL range of ester fluids offers clear and distinct benefits so customers can choose the one that best suits the specific installation and performance criteria.
