Line Guards are usually referred to as the light duty version of an Armour Rod. The Line Guard offers protection against abrasion, compressive stresses etc but they’re intended for use on spans of less than 90m. Line Guards can be used as a patch for conductors where damage has occurred as long as the damage doesn’t exceed 25% of the outer layer of strands.
